There is often a weld bead where the sidewall meets the floor of a compartment. In this case, the builder is faced with two choices: either grind down the weld bead or modify the door side frame to fit. Neither option is appealing. Grinding down this bead requires additional labor and may sacrifice the strength of the weld. As a result, AMDOR offers an option where our team will create a consistent mitered relief to accommodate the weld bead.
As an upgrade, AMDOR® offers a four-stage automotive wet paint system available in virtually any color that you can imagine including metallics and Lumicoat®. AMDOR’s standard is to apply paint over anodized aluminum substrate for the highest level of corrosion prevention. We are also proud of the fact that we are the only major roll-up door supplier with multiple manufacturing facilities. Our newest state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Lancaster, NY is centered upon a world-class fully automated robotic paint system. This industry breakthrough reduces lead times while ensuring a repeatable unmatched level of finish quality. AMDOR’s standard paint upgrade package includes a painted door curtain including slats and the bottom panel. Side frames and top gutters may also be painted upon request.
Please be sure to view the quality section of the website for more information about the quality inspection process that all AMDOR® roll-up doors must pass before shipping.
Pre-punched slotted holes in a side frame provide two advantages. The truck body may be prepped for door mounting prior to the arrival of the roll-up doors dramatically reducing installation times while delivering increased production consistency. In the field damaged side frames may be replaced in a matter of minutes knowing that the replacements will include slots that correspond to original mounting locations on the body. Slots are located within the center channel of the side frames at standardized intervals.
AMDOR currently offers three versions of our side frames. Our standard or conventional side frames is designed to frame the opening while providing ½” of exterior body wrap to reduce water ingression while providing a solid registration point.
We also offer a wide flange exterior side frame which provides 0.75” of exterior body wrap. This is particularly useful in applications where you have two adjacent doors where the side frames may be butted up against each other without the need to paint, finish, or apply graphics to a vertical sliver of space between neighboring compartments.
Our third standard is our recessed frame is identical except that this exterior flange has been removed. This allows the side frames to be recessed inward from the exterior of the body structure or allows for applications where exterior cladding needs to tuck up next to the side frames versus underneath.
Over the years we have also partnered with a number of builders to produce proprietary side frames to suit specific build characteristics. Following an engineering review and sign off process AMDOR will run and stock a custom side frame which is proprietary to your firm. AMDOR also offers a variety of side frame preparations to decrease installation time and improve field serviceability. All AMDOR side frames include standard pre-punched slotted holes. We also offer a variety of additional options including track bottom miters to clear body weld beads, notching for step down compartments and pre-installation of strikers. Additional info on each of these options is included on this site. Contact your local Territory Manager to dial in your specific custom requirements.

AMDOR offers three varieties of optional sill plates designed to provide a smooth protective sealing surface, complete the visual framing of your door, and in some cases to reduce water ingression. Our original sill plate offers the convenience of a sweep-out design with an interior water stop.
The majority of builders now offer a step-down compartment design to reduce the ingression of water and debris. For step-down applications, AMDOR offers two models with varying depths. Please consult our drawings or contact your Territory Manager for specification support. Top gutters are a key component of the roll-up door’s framing structure. They prevent water from running into the compartment or dripping onto the operator during use. The top gutter also incorporates a retainer for a top gutter seal designed to mate with a top landing seal when the door is in the closed and secure position. AMDOR offers two top gutter models. Our standard is a 2” gutter with seal. We also offer an optional 6” Extended Top Gutter which may be used in place of a traditional header and can accommodate top gutter drops ranging from 1” to 5”. The Extended 6” top gutter provides additional flexibility and may save the builder time and labor during construction. Both models are available in an optional continuous top gutter configuration where one top gutter may be used above a series of adjacent doors.

The Flex-HD pull strap was designed as a way to help operators close their doors while remaining unobtrusive when securing the door. Attached to both the bottom panel of the roll-up door and the sidewall of the compartment, this pull-strap allows you to easily and safely close the door—reducing staff injuries and downtime—while also making the door easier to secure without a strap in the way, improving efficiency. The Flex-HD pull strap is available in a variety of lengths to suit a range of door heights. Suitable as either an OEM or retrofit option.

AMDOR utilizes an industry-leading, multi-point double-dead bolt manual locking system. When deployed lock rods extend from the bottom panel through each side frame and into the body structure. Lock rods are stabilized by robust bottom panel end caps and connected to the central locking cam by upgraded corrosion-resistant flat bars. A variety of lock cores are available to suit virtually any security requirement. A redundant specially modified Manual Key Locking assembly is provided as part of our AMLOK Power Locking System to allow for a manual override in the event of an onboard vehicle power failure. Due to the custom nature of the system, this option is only recommended for new door builds.

This highly versatile system may be installed anywhere along the door frame thanks to our adjustable proprietary reader module. The reed switch is an electrical switch operated by an applied magnetic field originally invented by Bell Telephone Laboratories. The reed module is paired with a magnet which can be installed in an instantly recognizable red slat shoe or alternatively within a sealed enclosure in the bottom panel end cap. This NFPA-compliant system has been tested to one million cycles under load and works seamlessly with Luma Bar® Integral light installations. Each module features dual 15 amp circuits capable of powering a wide range of compartment accessories, in addition to the cab warning system. The magnetic door ajar switch is available with a positive or negative ground for either new or retrofit installations.
Over the years many customers have had negative experiences with competing brands of magnetic door ajar switch systems. In response to those requesting a non-magnetic door ajar switch solution AMDOR developed a sealed mechanical switch system. Using a push-button trigger within the striker, this mechanical system detects when the door has been left open and sends an alert to the driver. The primary benefit of this system is that the switch may only be activated by positive engagement of the lift bar. The military-grade switch is hermetically sealed for protection against water and debris. Each system is tested one million times under load, and in conjunction with Luma Bar® Integral lights, for NFPA compliance. This mechanical switch is designed to be utilized as a trigger to the ground with a conventional automotive relay handling power distribution. The mechanical door ajar system is suitable for both new and retrofit applications.
